More than 10 % of the global population lives in extreme poverty today; they struggle to fulfil the most basic needs like health needs, educational desires, and access to healthy water, sanitation, and clothing. Most people living on less than the minimum daily financial needs are common in rural areas. Worldwide, the poverty rate in rural areas is 17.2 %—more than three times higher than in urban areas. One child amongst five lives in extreme poverty. Ensuring social protection for all children, especially girls and other vulnerable groups, is critical to reducing poverty. It shows up as starvation and malnutrition, restricted access to healthcare and other necessities.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, through its DPU Foundation for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (DPU FIIE), is committed to fostering sustainable and inclusive innovation, infrastructure, and industrial development. Established as a non-profit organization in December 2019 under the Companies Act, DPU FIIE plays a pivotal role in driving forward new developments in technology and knowledge. DPU Foundation for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (DPU FIIE) is a non-profit organization registered in December 2019 under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.

DPU FIIE aims to support new developments in technology and knowledge by providing mentoring, networking and financial support. Being a health science university, DPU FIIE’s thrust area is to provide the best quality healthcare products and services for urban and rural India. Our clinicians are the source of new ideas that we transform into actual products, that are revolutionising the field of medical healthcare. Beyond healthcare; our charter is also to address problems related to the areas of sustainable development goals covering waste management, agriculture, air, water and soil pollution, renewable energy and food technology. Research and Consultancy

The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Consultancy Policy of the Vidyapeeth aims to promote academic excellence and community growth, fostering a culture of innovation. The policy applies to all faculty members and students, with the Vidyapeeth holding intellectual property rights (IP) where its resources are utilized. Authors retain ownership of copyrights and are eligible for financial benefits under the Vidyapeeth's terms. Inventors have rights to IP, with patent ownership governed by mutual agreements. When the University holds the patent, inventors retain IP rights until the agreed protection period expires. The University supports discussions regarding the sale, licensing, or technology transfer of intellectual property, and revenue sharing follows established royalty terms.

Faculty members are encouraged to engage in consultancy, strengthening research credibility and expertise. The Vidyapeeth’s Consultancy Policy outlines principles and procedures for consultancy services, ensuring no conflicts with University interests. Consultancy fosters research, scholarly collaboration, and the application of knowledge to address real-world challenges. Faculty play a key role in facilitating knowledge and technology transfer to drive economic and social impact.

Sustainable Infrastructure

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, spanning a 42.5-acre campus in Pimpri and Tathawade, possesses an expansive built-up area of 22,501 m². With a focus on quality education, the institution's infrastructure is scientifically designed to facilitate teaching–learning and skills acquisition. Boasting 78 ICT enabled classrooms including smart classrooms, 48 seminar halls, and 150 demonstration rooms, the campus provides a conducive environment for diverse pedagogical approaches.

Clinical learning is enriched by the availability of 2011 beds in Medical, 325 beds in Ayurved, 43 in Homoeopathy, and 425 dental chairs. These resources ensure comprehensive bedside clinical teaching and learning. The institution extends its educational reach into the community through ten Satellite Health Centers, covering both rural and urban areas. In compliance with regulatory standards, the institution surpasses requirements in providing facilities such as museums, skill labs, and an Animal House registered under CPCSEA. The Animal House, approved on 14/02/2017 (R.No.619/PO/02/ReBI/S/02/CPCSEA), is meticulously maintained by the Department of Pharmacology. The AYUSH Related Learning Cum Therapy Center integrates Ayurveda and Homoeopathy treatment modalities, offering diverse treatments during multi-diagnostic camps. The in-house Ayurved pharmacy, Sudhatatava,' holds GMP certification (MH/PZ3/GMP/6095400). In essence, the institution's physical facilities align with and surpass the stringent standards set by regulatory bodies, fostering a scientifically enriched educational ecosystem.

• Hostels: The hostel facilities have been expanded by 1,600 m², bringing the total built-up area to 48,840 m². The campus includes separate hostels for girls (738 rooms, accommodating 2,191 students) and boys (252 rooms, accommodating 651 students). There is also an interns’ hostel with 94 rooms (255 capacity), staff quarters with 70 flats, and a nurses’ hostel with 140 rooms (380 capacity).
• Internet Facilities: The Vidyapeeth has available bandwidth of >1 GBPS internet connection across all its campus premises that provides seamless internet connectivity to students, faculties and researchers.
• State-of-the-art media centre and lecture recording capabilities: DPU allows professionals to create educational content in electronic format that can be used in a variety of teaching and learning initiatives. DPU has made the required preparations to set up the framework for the creation of e-content.
• State-of-the-Art AV Studio: To meet the needs of students, DPU has established two cutting-edge AV recording studios for the creation of its own econtent for learning innovations.
• Lecture Capturing System (LCS): DPU uses this system, in which every class is live-recorded and provided for viewing on the Vidyapeeth website.
• Medical Facilities: Comprehensive healthcare services are available to meet the health needs of students.
• Canteens: The campus is served by seven canteens, spread across various locations, providing ample facilities for students and staff.
• Toilets: The campus has a sufficient number of clean and well-maintained washrooms.
• Banks and Post Office: ATM services from Union Bank of India and IDBI Bank are available on campus, and a post office is conveniently located within walking distance.
• Roads and Signage: Well-maintained internal roads with clear signage ensure easy navigation around the campus.
• Greenery: DPU has been recognized as a Green Education Campus and has received the "One District – One Green Champion" award from the Ministry of Education.
• Alternative Energy Sources: The campus is powered by solar energy, generating nearly 40% of its energy from renewable sources.
• Sewage Treatment Plant (STP): DPU operates four STPs with a total capacity of 1,170 m³/day.

The Global Business School has established summer internship programs that connect students with leading industries, offering them direct exposure to industrial practices, problem-solving, and innovation management. These internships allow students to understand and contribute to industry dynamics, thus aligning their educational growth with the latest professional standards.

In the field of healthcare, dental students at DPU engage in training programs with prominent organizations such as the Serum Institute of India. This collaboration equips them with advanced knowledge in biotechnology applications, healthcare manufacturing standards, and ethical practices essential in the global health landscape.
